So you’re sitting there wondering why you can’t seem to grow your Instagram engagement, right? You’ve had a stagnant number of followers for weeks and just aren’t getting the engagement you want on your posts. Well, that all can change with the use of these quick and easy tips that can be all the difference for your business and brand.
1. Your account is set on private
It makes sense to have a personal account set on private, but not for the account you plan on promoting your business. Most people won’t take the time to request to follow you if they don’t know who you are or already know of your business. In turn, you’ll get many people passing your business on by. As a business on Instagram, you should always have it be a public account.
2. Your bio may need some work
This is the first snapshot of what people are going to see. People want to know who you are and what you have to offer them. Keep in mind that the bio section is also the only place on Instagram where you can input a link.
3. You aren’t posting enough
While I can understand that you don’t want to overflow your or force feed your followers with your content, you also want to not have yourself be forgotten. A good place to start can be posting 2-4 times a week. Once you have a large following posting daily or multiple times a day won’t be an issue for your followers.
4. Your content isn’t what your audience wants
People choose to follow you because they more than likely enjoy the content that you’re posting. When you don’t do that you won’t get the engagement you want. A simple tip is to see what posts of yours did really well and go from there. You can also use the posts that aren’t getting as much engagement as a way to know what content does better for your specific audience. You can also see what people similar to you are posting and see what works for them.
5. You’re using the wrong hashtags or not any at all
Believe it or not throwing in a few hashtags within your caption (or in a comment on
your post) can make all the difference to gaining an audience. Many hashtags have huge communities attached to them and more than likely are looking through
all the content to find people to engage with (that person could be YOU).
If you want some help on finding the hashtags for your specific niche, take a look at my friend Zoe’s Ultimate Hashtag Database. You’ll learn everything on all the top hashtags used on Instagram and have even more success with growing your business and brand!
6. Ask for engagement
It sounds silly, but a simple way to ask for engagement is to ask for it. You can do this by asking a question in the caption and getting an answer in the comments. You can even have a call to action asking your audience to do something as simple as clicking the link in your bio! It has also been found that you’ll get more engagement on posts that have emojis incorporated into the caption and always be sure that if someone asks you a question in the comments do your best to answer back if you can.
7. Tag your location
Tagging the location of your photo is a simple way to have your post gain more exposure to the people in that area. This is extremely helpful to spreading your business and brand to people and places you haven’t reached before. Do be careful when tagging your location, don’t share the location of your home or office.
8. Have fun!
The most important rule of all, HAVE FUN! Don’t overthink what you’re doing and enjoy Instagram as a place to share your creative and awesome content. (Just use it to your advantage!)
